Privacy Policy for KinoPlus

Last updated: September 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how KinoPlus ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: KinoPlus does not use passwords. You can sign in with Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, or a one-time code sent to your email address. Depending on the method you choose, we collect your email address (which may be a private relay address if you use Apple's “Hide My Email”), your name, and the identifier of your Apple or Google account. This information is securely stored by our backend provider, Supabase, and is used to enable sign-in and to send you the one-time codes you request.

Kids Mode: Kids Mode is an optional, parent-controlled feature. When a parent turns it on, the App stores on the device only the chosen age group, a hashed 4-digit parent PIN, the parent's recovery email address and the child's favorites in Kids Mode. This information never leaves the device (except that the recovery email address is used to send you a one-time code if you ask to reset the PIN). We do not collect any personal information from children in Kids Mode, and it contains no advertising, analytics or tracking.

Usage Data: We do not run any analytics or tracking software in the App. Your favorites, viewing history and settings are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to us. We do not build a profile of your activity and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Mood Radar / AI Input: If you use the "Mood Radar" feature, the text you enter describing your mood or preferences is sent to a third-party AI service (Groq or OpenRouter, depending on your selected model) for processing, in order to generate personalized movie recommendations. This text is processed to generate a response and is not used by us for any other purpose.

Purchase Information: If you purchase KinoPlus Premium or a credits pack, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple's App Store. We do not collect or have access to your payment card details. We only receive confirmation that a purchase was completed, which we use to activate your Premium status or credits within the App.

2. Third-Party Services

This App uses the following third-party services to provide its core functionality:

Supabase: We use Supabase as our backend provider to securely store account information (email, name, sign-in identifiers) and authenticate users. For more information, see Supabase's Privacy Policy: https://supabase.com/privacy

Resend: We use Resend to deliver transactional emails, such as one-time sign-in codes and Kids Mode PIN reset codes. Your email address is shared with Resend solely for the purpose of delivering these emails. For more information, see Resend's Privacy Policy: https://resend.com/legal/privacy-policy

The Movie Database (TMDB): We use the TMDB API to retrieve movie and TV show information, including titles, descriptions, ratings, posters, and streaming availability. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. For more information, see TMDB's Privacy Policy: https://www.themoviedb.org/privacy-policy

Groq: We use Groq's AI API to process user-submitted text (in the Mood Radar feature) and generate movie/show recommendations. For more information, see Groq's Privacy Policy: https://groq.com/privacy-policy/

OpenRouter: We use OpenRouter's AI API as an alternative provider to process user-submitted text (in the Mood Radar feature) and generate movie/show recommendations. For more information, see OpenRouter's Privacy Policy: https://openrouter.ai/privacy

Apple (In-App Purchases): Purchases made within the App are processed by Apple through the App Store's in-app purchase system, governed by Apple's own privacy practices. For more information, see Apple's Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

3. Data Storage

The only personal data we store on a server is your account information (email address, name and sign-in identifiers), held by our backend provider, Supabase. Everything else — favorites, viewing history, settings and your Premium status on the device — is stored locally on your device and is removed when you delete the App. We do not sell or rent your personal data to any third party.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Data is only shared with the third-party services listed above (Supabase, Resend, TMDB, Groq, OpenRouter, Apple, Google) as necessary to provide the App's features.

5. Subscriptions, Cancellation and Refunds

How billing works: KinoPlus Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly, every 6 months, or yearly. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the same price at the end of each period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the period ends. The credits pack is a one-time purchase and does not renew.

How to cancel: You can cancel at any time in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions on your device, or from the "Manage Subscription" button inside the App. Cancelling is managed entirely by Apple — we cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf, because Apple does not give apps that ability.

What cancelling does: Cancelling stops future renewals. It is not a refund: Premium remains active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and that payment is not returned. For example, if you subscribe on the 8th of a month and cancel on the 10th, Premium stays active until the 8th of the following month, and then simply stops renewing.

Refunds: All payments are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple's own policies. We do not receive your payment directly and cannot issue, approve, or deny a refund. To request one, visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account used for the purchase.

Restoring purchases: If you reinstall the App or switch to a new device, use the "Restore Purchases" option in the App to bring back an active Premium subscription purchased with the same Apple Account.

6. Children's Privacy

KinoPlus is rated 17+ on the App Store. Its standard catalogue is unfiltered and includes titles with mature themes, violence and strong language, so accounts are intended for adults. Parents can turn on Kids Mode (Settings → Kids Mode), which shows only age-rated content (US movie certifications G/PG and TV-Y, TV-Y7, TV-G, TV-PG series), hides accounts, purchases and AI features, and can only be left with the parent's PIN. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has provided us with such information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your Rights

You may delete your account and associated data at any time through the App's Settings by using the "Delete Account" option. This permanently removes your account and its data from our backend, as well as any locally stored data, and this action cannot be undone. You may also stop using the App at any time, which will remove locally stored data from your device.

Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription — subscriptions are tied to your Apple Account and must be cancelled separately, as described in section 5.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
